A special Valentine's Day

It's been a very busy week! First, there was a Patriotic Program at school. All the second graders sang songs and recited facts and poems about American history. (At one point I thought: 1) These little second graders could quite possibly know more than my 8th graders and 2) I could never teach 2nd grade) My son, of course, did a fabulous job. He was animated and sang loudly... that's my boy!

In the fourth grade, the kids had a candy filled, sugar driven Valentine's Day party. Each student was asked to bring a box to fill with cards and notes from classmates. Naturally, the Pokemon fanatic in the house decided to give his box a theme. Needless to say, the end product was creative, fun, unique, and all about him. He did it by himself with a few sheets of scrapbook paper, scissors, and a glue stick. I wonder where he gets that level of creativity?
Then, this morning I woke up to find a wonderful surprise: a giant cupcake, cards, and flowers! The boys sure do love me!

The boys and I are so excited to have an entire week off from school. No big plans, rather the opposite. Nothing planned. I love it.

Going places

Today I got a text from mom saying the baby walked across the room. This is a first! Since taking his first step last month, he has been tentatively taking chances, cruising, holding on to furniture to get from point A to point B. But the cage at sissy's house is a friendly environment to take more daring shots, like several steps at once. So, that is what he has been doing all day. What a fast little learner.
This weekend, dad turned 73, so to celebrate family came for a good time. It is wonderful to have a large family to celebrate with on special occasions. As many family memebers live up north, we only really visit a few times a year. I would love to go up and stay in Napa with the family perhaps this summer. Any chance family members will watch the boys while we go wine tasting?

Superbowl

Because of details from a morning photo shoot, I couldn't sit long enough to watch the game. I would catch pieces here and there and could hear everyone yelling at the television (I think it is funny that people, in general, yell at a television set) I even missed the commercials.
Although I really didn't have a favorite, I am somewhat glad the Steelers won; their win earlier this season during Monday night game let me will that week for my football pool.

Any good commercials?
